We didn't think we could buy a house

Buying a home used to feel like something for other people. People with salaries, steady paychecks, and the kind of job you can explain in one sentence.

That wasn't us. Neither my husband nor I had a traditional job, and our income didn't come in on a predictable schedule. We assumed that ruled us out, so we never really looked into it.

The conversation that changed it

In 2020, we finally talked to a lender, mostly just to see. We weren't expecting much.

It turned out we had enough. That one conversation turned something we'd written off into something real.

Then it moved

Once we knew it was possible, things came together quickly. We asked friends who their realtor was, and that's how we met Gabe. Then we found the house. A few months later, we were homeowners.

What I remember most about that experience is how calm it felt. Gabe looked out for us, explained what was happening, and never made us feel rushed. For two people who had assumed they couldn't buy at all, that steadiness meant everything.

Six years later, I'm on his team at Dojo Mod. I didn't see that coming either.

What's different now, and what isn't

A lot has changed since 2020, from interest rates to home prices. I won't pretend buying today looks the same as it did then, and everyone's finances are different. What worked for us isn't a promise of what will work for you.

But one thing hasn't changed: you don't have to have it all figured out to start the conversation. Plenty of people rule themselves out without ever asking. Sometimes the answer really is "not yet." Sometimes it's "yes, sooner than you think." Either way, you can't know until you ask.

Wherever you're starting from

If you're ready to buy, we can talk through what you're looking for and what the next steps actually are.

If you're just curious what you could afford, I can connect you with a lender who'll give you real numbers, not a guess from an online calculator.

If owning a home is something you've wanted for a while but it feels far off, we can sit down and map out what it would take, whether that's a few months or a few years.

There's no wrong place to start. Reach out whenever you're ready.
